La visiting professor Elwira Sliwinska al Consorzio UNO

Nell’ambito di un accordo Erasmus Studio tra l’Università degli studi di Cagliari e l’Università di Bydgoszcz (Polonia), il giorno 3 maggio sarà ospite nella Sede Universitaria di Oristano come visiting professor Elwira Sliwinska, docente dell’University of Technology and Life Sciences Department of Plant Genetics and Biotechnology – Bydgoszcz.

La Prof.ssa terrà una conferenza dal titolo “Application of flow cytometry in plant sciences” dalle ore 16 alle 18 in aula 1P.

Terminata la lezione, Prof. Alberti e la Prof.ssa Sliwinska saranno a disposizione degli studenti per illustrare il programma di studio erasmus concordato tra i due Atenei.
Si ricorda che nel mese di giugno verrà pubblicato il II avviso di selezione per partecipare al Programma LLP – Azione Erasmus Studio A.A. 2012.13.

Research interest
1. Application of flow cytometry to:
o studying cell cycle in the seeds,
o estimation of nuclear DNA content in different plant species,
o estimation of plant ploidy,
o detection of DNA endoreplication in different plant tissue and different growth stages,
o studying an effect of anti-mitotic drugs on nuclear replication stages in plant tissues.
2. Testing and improving seed quality.
3. Improvement of the methods of sugar-beet breeding and high quality seed production.
4. Biotechnology and molecular biology methods in plant breeding.

Main research area
• improvement of the quality and testing methods of the seeds of sugar beet and vegetables,
• application of flow cytometry to plant breeding and seed technology,
• estimation of DNA content in various plant species,
• application of biotechnology methods to plant breeding,
• heterosis breeding of pepper and improvement of the methods for hybrid seed production,
• developing sweet pepper breeding material with high quality traits,
• polyembryony in plants from the family Solanaceae,
• interspecific crossing within the genus Capsicum.
